Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Tacet is a non-custodial wallet. Your recovery phrase and private keys are generated and stored only on your device — we never receive them, store them, or have any way to recover them for you. What we do store is limited to what's needed to make the app work: your public wallet addresses, basic device information, and — only if you use Tacet Chat or Share Access — encrypted message and access data that we cannot read.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following, and nothing beyond it:

• Device identifier — a random ID generated on your device to recognize it across sessions, plus basic device metadata (platform, model, manufacturer, OS version).
• Public wallet addresses — the addresses derived from your wallet, so we can look up balances and transaction history on your behalf. These are public blockchain data by nature.
• Identity public key — if you use Share Access, your device registers a public encryption key so other devices can encrypt data (like a shared seed) specifically for you. The matching private key never leaves your device.
• Chat content — if you use Tacet Chat, messages are end-to-end encrypted on your device before they ever reach our servers. We relay and store ciphertext; we cannot read the contents.
• Support requests — if you email us, we keep that correspondence to be able to help you.

3. Information we deliberately do not collect

• Your recovery phrase (seed phrase) or private keys, under any circumstance.
• Your app passcode or biometric data — these are checked locally by your device's own operating system and never transmitted anywhere.
• Cookies or tracking scripts on this website — this site does not run analytics or advertising trackers.

4. How we use information

We use the data described above only to:

• Operate core wallet features — showing balances, preparing transactions for you to sign locally, and relaying signed transactions to the relevant blockchain network.
• Operate Share Access and Tacet Chat, including delivering encrypted payloads to the correct device.
• Provide optional features you choose to use, such as the AML address-risk scanner, token swaps, and staking — each of which may involve sending relevant public data (like an address or transaction parameters, never your keys) to the third-party service that powers that feature.
• Respond to support requests and improve the reliability of the app.

5. Third-party services

Some optional features are powered by specialized third-party providers, who receive only what's necessary to perform their specific function — for example, a swap provider receives the swap parameters (networks, amount, destination address) to quote and execute an exchange, and an AML-screening provider receives an address to check its risk score. None of these providers receive your recovery phrase or private keys. Real-time chat delivery is powered by a third-party push infrastructure provider, which relays already end-to-end encrypted message payloads it cannot decrypt.

6. Data retention

We keep device and address records for as long as your wallet is registered, so the app continues to function across sessions. You can request deletion of your account data at any time (see Section 8) — this removes what we hold on our servers, but has no effect on your on-device recovery phrase or your blockchain history, which is public and permanent by the nature of blockchains.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about your device.
• Request correction or deletion of that data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.

8. Children's privacy

Tacet is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age required by their local law to hold cryptocurrency or use financial services.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Tacet after a change means you accept the updated policy.
